Summer Skincare And Haircare Tips During Quarantine | Hair Treatment During Quarantine

Poof begone,  this is a busy time for me- the mom  in quarantine. And I cringe at the idea of time consuming skincare and haircare routines. I am full time into creative writing as a blogger and also a full time mom to 2 boys in two very different age groups ( 5 and 10). This means my house is never free of 1000 shout outs to mom every 10 minutes. I hate yoga and I have no time for self reflection (what does it even mean?)

I think people in the beauty industry complicate skincare and haircare. For me, I want quick and easy ideas for selfcare. Don’t get judgemental, selfcare and skincare and haircare is important.  They need care even if we are spending all our time indoors. So, what is my solution to keep the balance of skin and haircare and the busyness of motherhood?

Here is my list of quick and easy summer skincare and haircare tips during quarantine.

Since this is summer, there are things that we can do to better our hair and skin care journey and there are things we can do to that we may regret later. Today, I want to share tips that we can all do to better our skincare and hair-care journey.

SKINCARE IN QUARANTINE

Moisturise your hands

SKINCARE IN QUARANTINE

It is important to moisturize one’s hands after every handwash. Keep a jar of moisturizer handy along with the handwash to keep them nourished with frequent sanitising. Ask kids to do the same, so that their tender skin doesn’t get damaged from using soaps so frequently. Use olive oil or coconut oil on the front and back of your hands. See how you can make your own moisturizer here.

Wear an SPF 26 sunscreen even if you are not going anywhere

Well, I don’t, but after I chanced upon this article, I make sure I apply a sunscreen everyday. I had this notion of, ‘ I am not stepping out, so I can spare myself this extra hassle. But, that’s really not true. Radiation from the sun affects us even indoors. So, if there is light, then continue to use your sunscreen.

 Exfoliate weekly

Exfoliate face and body on a weekly basis because skin is the first immune barrier. Our skin cell turnover is critical to maintaining healthy skin. And if skin cells become sluggish, the turnover rate decreases. So, exfoliate skin at least weekly.

Here’s how you can make your own DIY your own scrub with things from the kitchen:

Mash papaya with  tsp of milk and some salt. Use this scrub on face, hands and neck.

To make a home jar of scrub:

jar of scrub

Mix olive oil or coconut oil, 3 tbsp sugar, 10 drops of your favourite essential oil. Give it a stir and store in a jar. Scrub this on the body once a week.

Don’t forget to take your daily dose of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants

What happens on the inside is as important as outside. I make sure, my family gets it’s serving of fruit and salad in every meal. I can’t stress this enough as to how critical it is to maintain a robust immune system in this time of the Coronavirus scare. Make a smoothie of seasonal fruits with an inch of ginger to boost your own and your family’s immunity.

Hair Treatment During Quarantine

Hair needs care too during this time. Don’t forget to take care of your mane. Salons, like many other businesses, are remaining closed during the pandemic. While people are practicing self-isolation, especially from their hairstylist, it also may mean adapting to new ways of hair maintenance.

I usually apply warm coconut or olive oil to my scalp once a week to a fortnight. And  a nourishing hair mask to the entire scalp.
